Awards Ceremony Takes Place During AIM Summit 2017 in Stuttgart, Germany
The 2017 AIM Awards during a special ceremony that concluded a short time ago in Stuttgart, Germany. The ceremony was part of AIM Summit 2017, the association's premier event which annually brings together executives and leaders in the automatic identification and data capture (AIDC) industry from around the world. Glenn Spitz, Director of Engineering ID Products at Cognex Corporation was selected as recipient of the 2017 Dilling Award. Named for industry pioneer Richard Dilling, this award is considered to be the highest honor given in the AIDC industry and recognizes lifetime achievements that have furthered industry growth through significant applications and new technological developments. Mr. Spitz was the Founder & President of Webscan, Inc. until it became a part of Cognex in December 2016. Shi Yu, CEO of Beijing REN JU ZHI HUI Technology Co. Ltd., located in Beijing City, Peoples Republic of China, received the 2017 Williams Award, given in recognition of his effort to further the growth of the AIDC industry in academia through work as a teacher, researcher or entrepreneur. He is a leading researcher and expert in the Han Xin Code, for which he has received international accolades. AIM's 2017 Moore Award was presented to Thorsten Aha, Chief Editor of the German-based magazine ident, recognized in Europe as the leading magazine for users of automatic identification and data collection. The Moore Award recognizes a member of the media whose work exemplifies the qualities of honest, educational and unbiased reporting in the AIDC industry. In addition to the 2017 AIM Award winners, today's ceremony also paid tribute to winners from the 2016 AIM Case Study Competition. Accepting the award in the AIDC category was NOVEXX Solutions as well as Omni-ID, winner in the Internet of Things category. Both companies were on hand to accept their awards and will be presenting the winning case studies during the afternoon session today at AIM Summit 2017.
