AIM NA's New Public Policy Committee

2/23/2017

"The genesis of the Public Policy Committee came in large part due to the realization that the work being done by AIM North America's AIT Alliance was transcending technology," said Don Ertel, Chairman of AIM North America.  "Since its inception, the AIT Alliance has been a champion for businesses that regularly interact with government agencies to advance the understanding and use of automatic identification technologies, enabling better data security in the government that ultimately saves taxpayer dollars.  With a wider scope, the Public Policy Committee will be poised to foster and facilitate the integration of data collection technologies used by government agencies and end users alike as we see the expansion in areas such as the Internet of Things."

The Public Policy Committee will continue to work with contacts previously established at both the federal and state levels, including the U.S Food & Drug Administration (FDA), both the Senate and House Armed Services Committees, the Congressional IoT Caucus, the Department of Commerce and the Department of Defense.  Due to these efforts, several recent legislative bills contain inclusions introduced and promoted by AIM North America members.

"In today's modern digital age we are driven not only by how to efficiently collect and secure data, but also how to best use that data," added Chuck Evanhoe, Chairman of AIM, Inc. and a Public Policy Committee member.  "With a emphasis on education and outreach within government circles, we have the potential to positively impact the value of automatic identification technologies for many years to come."

Individuals and organizations interested in joining the efforts of the AIM NA Public Policy Committee are invited to participate in the Committee's next virtual meeting, scheduled for Friday, February 24th.  For more information or to register, contact Mary Lou Bosco at AIM by email or call AIM Headquarters at +1.724.742.4473.
